The Kings’ offer for John Collins was considered “excessive” by the Hawks

However, while there seems to be some sort of unofficial consensus around the league that Sacramento is leading the way in negotiations, sources say the Kings’ offer has so far been considered unacceptable by the Hawks. Kings small forward Harrison Barnes would go to Atlanta for the deal and – to be clear – the Kings’ No. 4 pick is not part of these discussions. If so, it probably would have already happened.

More on this story

As Bleacher Report’s Jake Fisher reported on Wednesday, sources confirm that there have been significant talks with San Antonio over an agreement involving Collins and Spurs guard Dejude Murray. However, as of late last night, the huge price of the Spurs was considered excessive by the Hawks. There is a significant gap there, it seems, but it is still worth watching. -via The Athletic Staff, The Athletic @ The Athletic / 23 June 2022

San Antonio’s most important discussions about Murray appeared to take place with the Atlanta Hawks, in a context that would send Collins back to the Spurs, league sources told B / R. San Antonio and Atlanta started this idea of the deal at least dating back to the February trade deadline. -through Bleacher Report / 23 June 2022

Chris Kirschner: As @Jake Fischer mentioned, the Hawks discussed a trade involving John Collins and Spurs guard Dejounte Murray, but they told me it was not close to happening yet. Without saying that it will not happen, just do not close this second. -via Twitter @ChrisKirschner / 23 June 2022
