“I had problems a few weeks ago”

One of the star attractions at Wimbledon will be the rising star, Carlos Alcaraz.

But the 19-year-old, who has won this year in Miami and Madrid, was suffering from an injury to his right elbow.

Alcaraz lost 6-4 6-2 to Francis Tiafoe in a demonstration match on Thursday and then said:

It is only for precaution. A few weeks ago I had problems, I could not train well. I trained a few times at Wimbledon without pain, here I felt good.

The first race on the grass is never easy, but I had fun out there. Of course I have more workouts ahead, a race on Saturday and here to get ready and get 100% for Wimbledon.

I do not think this year will be my surface. Surely in the future I can play quite well on this surface if I play tournaments before Wimbledon and I think I will feel comfortable playing on this surface.

good morning

Hello and welcome to the coverage of the long-awaited draw for the Wimbledon Championship.

All eyes will be on who Emma Raducanu is facing in the midst of doubts about her physical condition as she recovers from a stomach injury.

Among the possible opponents for the US Open champion is Serena Williams, who has a wild card in the tournament and remains a threat despite being off the field for a year.

But Iga Swiatek is the No. 1 woman to win the women’s draw after winning her last 35 races in a row.

She was simply unstoppable on the ground of Roland Garros, losing a set as she won her second French Open title in three years, reaching the 2020 title when she became the youngest French Open champion for 28 years.

But Wimbledon presents a completely different challenge for a player whose nine WTA career titles have been won on clay and hard court and who admits the grass is tough.

Elsewhere, former champions Simona Halep, Petra Kvitova, Angelique Kerber and Garbine Muguruza are also capable of deep runs and players to avoid in the early stages.

In the men’s draw, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are the first two seeds and favorites to meet in the final.

Djokovic will hope to find redemption at Wimbledon as he wants to defend his title and approach Nadal’s 22 Grand Slam titles.

The Serb won the last three editions of Wimbledon in 2018, 2019 and last year, with the 2020 tournament being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But Nadal won the Australian and French Open to extend his overall slam performance and after recovering from his annoying leg, he looks ready to face SW19.

Stay with us for all the news, updates and news from the draw.
