Anna Faris is a work in progress.
The 45-year-old actor recently spoke in an interview with Chelsea Handler on the Handler podcast, Dear Chelseaabout her life after divorce and how she “still learns” how to accept love in her life.
“Being a stepmother, I’m still learning. I really am “, she explained about the upbringing of the two children of her new husband Michael Barrett, whom she has a previous relationship with. “In the beginning I felt like I wanted to be like that. a wild, young, reckless man in their lives, because I was also getting a divorce “.
Faris married filmmaker Barrett in 2021 after meeting him in the film At the sea.
She was previously married to Chris Pratt, before they divorced in October 2018. She and Pratt have a son, Jack, 9 years old. Prior to Pratt, she was married to actor Ben Indra until their divorce in 2008.
Thinking about how her separation from Intra changed her outlook on life, Faris acknowledged, “there is this kind of change that happens” after divorce.
“It hit hard the first time,” he explained. “I became someone I did not recognize. Like, I was always the man filling my fridge – and I hosted a lot of dinners. He was back when I had friends. But then [post-divorce] I was in this apartment with only beer and mustard in the fridge and I was out all the time. I had no one to text or call to say, “Hi, can I do this?” It was incredibly liberating and I came back, like when I was 17 years old. “
Speaking of the close relationship she has with herself now, Faris admits that it is a “slow development” in the acceptance of love by others – which she can detect in her childhood.
“I was terrified that I was not a good lover, especially when I was younger,” she said. “I was so aware of my body. I did not want anyone to see it, but I would dance to its edges. “I wanted them to want me desperately.”
“My mom never complimented me on my physical appearance,” she explained. “I was so late in bloom – I had plump cheeks, I wore headgear for many years. “I think my parents did this to me because they wanted me to stay a virgin,” he said.
Faris’ willingness to please people, combined with the desire to be desired by men, inspired her to make changes in her body to meet these needs.
“I just got fake tits and my hair is white. That was my strategy, “she said, adding that while it is easy for her to be complimented on her work and achievements, it is still a struggle to receive praise for her performance. In Hollywood, if you do something and everyone looks beautiful and someone is like “I think you look so beautiful”, I can not absorb it very well. That’s a little too much. “
After her second divorce, however, Faris says it was “easier” to accept love, although she adds: “I’m still struggling with it.”
While Faris is still learning the ups and downs of being a foster parent, she is also open about the reality of living with Pratt. Earlier this year, on her podcast Absolutespoke openly about the difficulties.
“Chris and I work very hard [to coparent] “Because we have Jack,” he said. “This is an idea for the long game and to make sure Jack is really happy, which makes us really happy. We have the luxury of circumstances. You know, we’re both in other love relationships, but it’s like, in general, how do you not sink into a place of bitterness? “
Although she admits that raising a child with her ex has its challenges, at the end of the day, she wishes everyone the best.
“I want to reiterate, however, that the king recognizes, we all recognize, everyone recognizes, that there is bitterness and pain in all separations and that I hope will make us more human,” he explained. “But the long game, and it’s just the worst of being the biggest man. It just is. It sucks! Until then, what [matters most] is that everyone is happy “.
